The Knights beat Walkerton District Secondary School in straight sets, the first set a close one at 25-23.

Later in the day, KDSS beat the Saugeen District Secondary School Royals to get kick of the Bluewater Athletic Association regular season schedule at 2-0.

On the weekend, the Knights were in Palmerston for tournament action hosted by the Norwell District Secondary School Redmen.

With a short bench, the Knights went 8-2 on the day with straight set wins over the Royals, GDCI of Goderich, the Chesley Cougars and Listowel. KDSS also split sets with the Redmen during the round robin.

“We played great (volleyball),” said Taylor Schmidt in an E-mail Sunday afternoon.

KDSS’ round robin record moved the team in to the tournament finals, where they faced the host Redmen.

With no substitutes due to injuries and work commitments, the Knights were beaten in straight sets by Norwell.

“We were exhausted,” said Schmidt.

Both the junior and the senior Knights were in action yesterday afternoon in Chesley. The teams played two regular season contests. The first match had KDSS pitted against the host Cougars, while the second match saw the Knights face Hanover’s John Diefenbaker Secondary School.

Tuesday afternoon in Kincardine, the Knights will host the Royals and the Sacred Heart High School Crusaders .
