Kinetic Knights barbecue Saturday

Before the team heads for St. Louis, have a hot dog with the Kinetic Knights.

The Kinetic Knights FIRST Robotics Team 781 is holding a fundraising barbecue on Saturday at the Lake Huron Learning Centre. The barbecue is sponsored by Gordon’s Pharmasave, with proceeds going towards the team’s trip to St. Louis to compete in the FIRST World Championships next week.

There will even be a chance to drive the robot, which qualified for the world finals of FIRST (For inspiration and recognition of science and technology) with a dramatic win at the Queen City Regional competition in Cincinnati April 8. This is the second straight year Kincardine District Secondary School will compete at the worlds. The team finished second overall at last year’s World Championship.

About 40 people are involved with the Kinetic Knights – students, teachers and community members. Beginning at noon, the team will be manning the grills, cooking up hamburgers outside the Lake Huron Learning Centre, where the team has a practice facility. You might even get the chance to drive KDSS’ world-class robot.
