Scott McFarlan didn't want this game to end in a shootout.

McFarlan danced out of the corner and roofed a backhander with less than a minute to play in double overtime last night to give his Kincardine Tim-BR Mart bantams a berth in Friday's Silver Stick final.

"It's the biggest goal I have ever scored," said McFarlan, who capped off the game winning goal with a Jaromir Jagr salute. "I don't really know what happened, puck kind of hopped to me and I walked out, I guess."

The goal snapped a 2-2 tie in the Bantam B semi-final at the Davidson Centre. This game could have gone either way, and the teams traded chances throughout. Scott Springer opened the scoring in the second period when he deflected a Colton Fisch shot between the legs of Dalton Regier in the Kincardine goal. Four minutes into the third, Sheldon McBride finished a pretty passing play with Shane Vollmer and McFarlan to even the score.

With 5:59 to play, Brock Wagner scored for Twin Centre and it looked like the goal would stand as the game winner. Kincardine, who controlled much of the third period play, was suddenly back on its heels and had trouble getting any chances. But with 1:22 remaining, Evan Brown threw a long wrist shot on net that fooled the Twin Centre goaltender.

The teams played five minutes of overtime, then another five minutes of 4-on-4 overtime. Had McFarlan not scored, the game would have been decided by a three-man shootout.

Kincardine will face Listowel at 4:45 p.m. today (Friday) at the Davidson Centre for the bantam B title at the 25th annual Kincardine Regional Silver Stick. Listowel beat Tavistock in another good game that was played prior to Kincardine's 20T win. It gives Kincardine two chances to keep a title at home tomorrow.

The Kincardine Home Hardware novices beat West Lincoln 5-2 last night Ripley to advance to the Novice B championship game. Kincardine, who is 4-0 this week, was to face BCH at 10:30 a.m. in Kincardine. All final games will be played in Kincardine.

The Legion peewees, however, are not playing today. The were dumped by Listowel in the B semi-final played in Tiverton last night. The peewees were outclassed from the start by a strong Listowel team who will now meet Goderich at 1:30 p.m.

The novice C final will be played at 9 a.m., with the Kincardine novices to follow. At noon, Mildmay and Norwich will face off for the Peewee C championship, followed by the Listowel - Goderich peewee C final. The bantam C final will be played at 3 p.m. and feature Wainfleet against Blyth-Brussells. The Independent will be at the Davidson Centre tomorrow, so if you are unable to be in attendance, be sure to follow along via twitter@kincintheslot or by checking this website throughout the day.
