Brianna Cooper of Kincardine has advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur Golf Championships in Rhode Island.

Cooper, about to enter her sophomore year on a golf scholarship at Illinois State University, was the top Canadian after two rounds of play and has a 1:50 p.m. match play date this afternoon (Wednesday) with American Casey Danielson.

After two qualifying rounds, Cooper was +2 at 144. She went 71-73 on the par-770 Rhode Island Country Club course. Jihee Kim of Korea lead all golfers at -4 after two rounds. Just 64 golfers advanced to match play action, which began this morning. From here on in, every match is do-or-die until a champion is crowned.
