It didn't take long for the first 20+ pound fish to be weighed at the Chantry Chinook Classic Fishing Derby.

Todd Bender of St. Clement's brought a 20.5-lb trout in to the Saugeen Shores weigh station last night at 8 p.m. The derby, Lake Huron's biggest, kicked off yesterday morning.

The top salmon, as of Sunday afternoon, belonged to last year's derby winner Craig Wilton of Mt. Brydges. He weighed in a 15.6-lb chinook Saturday morning at the Kincardine weigh station.

Locally, Kincardine's Paul Bester sits in fourth place overall with a 14.9-lb salmon, while Marty Miller and Greg Pawlikowski also sit in the top-10 for salmon.

The derby opened yesterday morning and continues for the next two weeks. See next week's print edition of The Kincardine Independent for full details. We're also tweeting any derby lead changes on twitter@kincintheslot.
