Cubs host Dodgers Saturday

While the Kincardine Cubs remain undefeated in Thames Valley Senior Baseball League action, they didn’t look like a first place ball club on the weekend.

The Cubs were playing in the second half of a crossover tournament that featured the best teams from both the Thames League and the Western League. After going 1-1 in the first two games of the crossover last month, a shorthanded Kincardine team dropped two contests in Port Lambton.

First, the Cubbies were edged out 7-5 by the hosts (from the Western League). Then, they took a 10-3 beating by the rival Mitchell Astros. Veteran pitcher John Dupuis apparently pitched all 14 innings played on Saturday.

Still, Kincardine takes an 8-0-1 record into a pair of games this weekend. The Cubs will host the London Area Dodgers (2-10) Saturday at 2 p.m. on Tout Field at Connaught Park. Sunday, Kincardine will travel to London to take on the 6-7 Stingrays.
