Girls hockey team tames Mustangs

The Knights opened the season with an offensive flurry.

The Kincardine District Secondary School girls hockey team walked all over the St. Mary’s Mustangs Thursday afternoon at home in the Bluewater Athletic Association girls hockey season opener.

KDSS got a hat trick from Kait McDonell and a shutout from Natalie Melick en route to a 7-0 win over the Owen Sound school.

The Knights were in action yesterday (Tuesday) at home against the OSCVI Falcons. The game started at 2:30 p.m.

Against St. Mary’s, it was all Kincardine. Also scoring goals for KDSS were Cayly Bellan, Hannah Davidson, Cassidy Colhoun and Marissa Jolley. McDonell added an assist for a four-point game and Kelsey Young had three helpers in the contest. Also getting assists were Bellan (2), Morgan Padfield, Laura Mangotich, Sara Gossell and Courtney Surridge.

The team will be in Listowel this weekend for tournament action.
