Clarence Arthur “Joe” Jarvis died peacefully, with his family beside him, at Kincardine Hospital on Jan. 24, 2018, at 82 years of age.


Left to mourn are his wife Patricia (née Perry); daughters Sandra (Geoff Farrell), Holly (Jim St. Antoine), Laura (Brian Ross) and Kathleen (Glenn Wells); grandchildren Thomas (Becca), Jonathon (Siobhan), Jacob and Patrick Farrell, Shannon and Melissa Ross; and great-grandchildren Everett and Arlo Farrell.


Bulldogs gear up for round one of playoffs


Kincardine finished off the regular season in style, with two home games. Friday night’s match with the Walkerton Hawks ended in a 3-3 tie; Saturday evening the Bulldogs claimed a 4-1 victory over Goderich.


Friday night started off slow for the Bulldogs. Walkerton’s Justin Donnelly scored the period’s only goal from Adel Zivojevic late in the first period.

Councillor wants new discussion on Upper Lorne Beach access gates

Public access to a stretch of road that runs along the lakeshore to Inverhuron will be up for debate by municipal council, once again.


Councillor Gord Campbell asked that the issue be added to last Wednesday’s Municipality of Kincardine council agenda for discussion. Questions were last raised in 2015 about opening up Victoria Street within the gated community of Mystic Cove to the general public when Highway 21 is closed during winter storms.

Shirley Olive Lockwood (Beattie) of Ripley, beloved wife of the late Ross Lockwood, passed away at the Kincardine Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at the age of 92.


She was born in Richmond County, Quebec, on Sept. 5, 1925, to the late Elizabeth (Walker) and John Beattie.


Greatly missed by her children Allan (Melanie) Lockwood of Kemptville, Bev (Joe) Fry and Gail (Ron) Lotton, all of Ripley.




Margot “Ann” Lichtenberg (née Morrison) of Kincardine passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine, on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, in her 90th year.


Beloved wife of the late Thorpe “Mate” Lichtenberg (1990).


Loving mother of Sally (Bill Smith) Lichtenberg of Kincardine and Thorpe (Kelly) Lichtenberg of South Riding, Virginia.




Loraine Barry (née Elliott) of Ripley passed away at University Hospital in London on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, in her 81st year.


Loving partner of Keith Armstrong.


Cherished mother of Charlene Gomes of Cambridge.
